Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland by yacht: fjords, archipelagos of thousands of islands, and routes that cross a border every few days.
Scandinavia is made for a yacht. The Norwegian fjords, the Swedish west coast, the Stockholm archipelago, the Danish islands and the Finnish archipelago sit a day’s sailing apart.
Most of our Scandinavia charters cross at least one border. The best of them string two or three countries together: the Oslofjord into Sweden, Copenhagen up to Gothenburg, or Stockholm across to Åland and Helsinki.
The season is short and bright. June to August brings long light evenings everywhere, with midsummer in late June when the whole of Scandinavia moves outdoors. July is the warmest month and the busiest in the harbours; June and August are quieter. North of the Arctic Circle in Norway the sun does not set at all around midsummer, and in winter the northern lights take over (see mynorwaycharter.com).
Norway. Deep fjords, waterfalls and mountains straight out of the sea, from Bergen and the Sognefjord to Lofoten above the Arctic Circle.
Sweden. Two archipelagos: the granite islands and fishing villages of Bohuslän on the west coast, and the tens of thousands of islands of the Stockholm archipelago on the Baltic side.
Denmark. Copenhagen’s harbour, castles on the Øresund, and the gentle island world of the South Funen archipelago around Ærø.
Finland and Åland. The Archipelago Sea between Turku and Åland is one of the largest archipelagos in the world, with Helsinki and its island fortress at the end of the route.
Every route can be run in either direction and combined: Copenhagen to Oslo joins the Norwegian fjords, and Stockholm to Helsinki can start from the Swedish west coast through the Göta Canal on a smaller yacht.
